NYCFC sign Agustín Ojeda - Racing receive significant fee

New York City FC have secured a real talent. As the club announced, they have signed Agustín Ojeda until the end of 2028 with a club option for 2029. The transfer fee is reportedly €7 million, making him one of the most expensive signings in club history. His old club, Racing Club, retains 10% of the player rights.

“We are delighted to welcome Agustín to New York,” said NYCFC sporting director David Lee. “Agustín is an exciting, dynamic winger with a lot of pace and attributes that we believe will translate to MLS.” Added Ojeda: “I am excited to be joining one of the best clubs in MLS that is known for competing for championships, while also focused on developing young players. I can’t wait to meet the coaching staff and my new teammates. I’m looking forward to bringing the experience I have gained in Argentina to add to this talented squad.”

“Despite the fact he's a young player he always asked for the ball and took the initiative,” said Transfermarkt Area Manager Argentina Scott Christensen.

Ojeda is now another option on the wings for New York City FC. At Racing Club, he mainly played on the left wing. However, the Argentina U20 international can also play on the right wing and in central midfield. “He is quite unpredictable in attack, hard to stop for the full backs,” Christensen said.

Agustín Ojeda: From Rosario to New York

Ojeda joined the youth section of Argentinian powerhouse Racing Club at the age of 12 after being discovered at a youth tournament in Rosario. He consistently performed well, which ultimately earned him a professional contract in 2023. However, he made his debut for the Racing Club professional team a year earlier. In March 2022, he came on as a substitute for now Charlotte FC striker Enzo Copetti in the Copa de la Liga.
